Deadline

"Written, literally at the last minute, for a record date in Japan (we needed one more piece), Deadline has been used in many different ways: solo, duo, quartet, sextet, big-band, workshop, ballet, with words, as a vocal exercise, etc."

Steve Lacy (reprinted from Findings)

Albeit Brion Gysin wrote lyrics to suit Deadline (kinf of a "junky" mantra, not far from Underline, which belongs to the same suite: The 4 Edges), most of its interpretations are instrumental.

Written: June 18, 1975
First published: Findings (1994)
Availability: ibid.
Instrumentation: solo (any instrument) or duo with drums (C & Bb instruments)
