Cadence

The tone, articulation and overall conception apparent in Kartet's jazz/improvised music indicates B classical roots. The impression is further reinforced by the group's regular and effective use of rich, contrapuntal webs, a vital aspect of contemporary "straight" music.

Unfortunately, their individual stylings aren't as striking as their varied, mostly interesting, vividly realized constructs which, on the opener (and it's closing reprise) and Slices, dedicated to Steve Lacy, are downright ambitious.
